It's very exciting to be a part of their progression! Nadine and I had a nice hack out through the fields, including a good gallop, her first in wide-open terrain. All in all, a great day! Today is a rain day and I'll be spending it doing work for my ao haru ride live action nautiljon project: Arabian Pedigree Research Services. Had a nice training session with Kendal the Morgan mare today. Kendal was started by someone whose idea of "natural horsemanship" is chasing horses around the round pen with a whip at full steam until they're too exhausted to object to much of anything. This has made lunge line work a challenge but, after only a few sessions, she is realizing that she won't be punished for going forward and working calmly enough that I've been able to start work in side reins.
Her basics are coming along quickly and I'm looking forward to getting her re started under saddle soon!
His biggest challenge has been that, like many ex-racers, his right side is much weaker than his left, which makes it difficult for him to balance and lift his back, especially in right bend. He has come a long way since February, when I started regular sessions with him and is now working round and up through his back in both directions at all three gaits and throu … gh transitions, respecting the outside aids, calmly performing basic lateral work and even working over small jumps his favorite!
His attitude toward the new challenges has been great, the asymmetry is gradually starting to diminish and he's well on his way to being a fabulous sport horse! I really can't thank Rose, owner of Mills Farm, enough for giving me the chance to work with him! Sold some items, talked to a lot of great people and got some good exposure for myself and my two partner farms: Mills Farm and Miracle Stables. Followed that up with a very nice session with Keenan, who is showing a lot of potential as a dressage horse.
All in all, a very good day! Rainy day Hoping I can still keep my afternoon appointment to work with Kendie, the seven-year-old Morgan mare I'm retraining for a client. Technically, I've been working with them since January but bad weather and footing conditions have meant VERY few sessions have actually happened.
Will post a picture of her when I can! Louie has a sweet disposition, is very good with children and would be suitable for a beginner rider. He is willing and quiet under saddle, smooth and balanced at all three gaits. He works willingly over poles and is a brave anti ride naturel efficace naturel. He is very easy to handle, has great ground manners and has been used in a therapeutic riding program but does not want to be a therapy horse.
He would make a great first pony or be a wonderful addition to a lesson program. He measures at Stands quietly for farrier and vet, bathes, loads, clips and trailers well. AGD Equine has a new web site! Had a great time giving pony rides to one of my client's grandchildren. This is five-year-old Joseph riding Daphne.
